In Situ Monitoring of the Anticancer Drug Efflux from Drug Resistant Lung Cancer Cells

ABSTRACT This paper presents the in situ quantitative monitoring of the anticancer drug doxorubicin (DOX) efflux from the drug resistant lung cancer cells NCI-H69AR by using a microelectrode array integrated compact electrochemical system. This approach achieves a sensitive, quantitative, non invasive and real-time efflux assay that can help address drug resistance, a major therapeutic stumbling block for cancer chemotherapy. The efflux of anticancer drug doxorubicin (DOX) from NCI-H69AR lung cancer cells was extensively studied.
